+====== ORA-12638: Credential Retrieval Failed Error Message ======
+**Symptoms**
+When trying to connect to the Oracle database you may receive the following error message:

+**Cause**
+The authentication service failed to retrieve the credentials of a user.
+**Solution**
+In order to solve this issue you need can try to do the following steps:
+. Try to lock and unlock the PC, where such error appeared. If it will not solve the issue proceed with the next step.
+. Restart the Windows Service for Oracle.  If it will not solve the issue proceed with the next step.
+. Go to the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory and open the sqlnet.ora file. Search for  SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= and set it to SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NONE). Save the file and the issue should be solved.
