Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server Not Found

Symptoms

During import to SQL Server the message with the following content may occur: “Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server: Data source name not found and no default driver specified.”.

Cause

When making an import into the MSSQL Server database our tool uses native utilities like, sqlcmd.exe and bcp.exe, and run them in command line mode. When these utilities are run from the command line, they use the ODBC driver. So, when there is no ODBC driver installed on the machine where you are running the migration process, you may receive this kind of message.

Solution

To handle this problem you need to install the Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver on the machine where you are running the migration. You can download the MS SQL ODBC driver from the official Microsoft site, using the link below:
